There is one doctoral programme - Media and Communication at the Institute of Journalism and Communication. The degree to be awarded is Doctor of Philosophy (in Media and Communication).

Duration of the Doctoral studies is four years. 

The Doctoral studies include participation in lectures, seminars, independent research, giving lectures and seminars, participating in international workshops, preparing conference presentations, and writing and publishing scientific articles. The volume of the curriculum is 240 ECTS, of which PhD studies make up 60 ECTS (25%) and PhD research 180 ECTS (75%).

The PhD studies consist of four parts: speciality subjects (36 ECTS), University-wide elective subjects (12 ECTS), pedagogical training at university level (6 ECTS) and optional subjects (6 ECTS). (See the curriculum).
